Welcome to 6BY6! We are a homegrown design service founded in 2014 by Allison Arnold. We cater primarily to small business in the Edmonton area, with a specialty in web design.

At 6BY6 we believe in the philosophy of design and conquer. Using an awesome combination of logic and aesthetics, we use targeted strategies to wage war against those pesky marketing and visibility problems that plague businesses.

fresh food, fresh take

Urban Diner is a local restaurant in Edmonton, with locations in the busy, vibrant 124 Street and University districts. They elevate diner style food to stylish new heights, sourcing seasonal and local ingredients. Urban Diner contacted 6BY6 early in 2014 looking for a fresh, modern take on their website. They felt their online presence was outdated, and didn't reflect the unique, cool atmosphere in both of their locations. 6BY6 also noted their lack of mobile and tablet-friendly website capability.

After a few brainstorming sessions with Urban Diner's owners, 6BY6 founder Allison drafted a plan to revitalize their web presence, using custom video, photography, and animations, as well as a bright, vibrant colour palette and condensed menus to capture attention and give users the Urban Diner experience through their screens. Urban Diner also requested a news page that they could advertise specials and events on.

Within two months of launch, the Urban Diner site boasted nearly 20% more return visitors, with the average overall hit count climbing steadily. Users spent more time on the site than ever before, and events and specials were being advertised more consistently to customers. View the live site at urbandiner.com.

The Manor Bistro is a local restaurant in Edmonton, located just off the 124 Street district. They are a vibrant, intimate, award winning restaurant inside of an historical house. The Manor Bistro got in touch with 6BY6 in 2014 looking to update their website. They felt their web presence needed to reflect the exciting changes they were making to their business.

6BY6 founder Allison met with owners to discuss direction for the website, and crafted a plan. The new website would feature stunning background images from a custom photo shoot, dynamic horizontal parallax navigation, and a hand-crafted interactive navigation menu to enhance the user experience, while keeping the simple, lively spirit of The Manor Bistro proudly on display.

Within a month of launch, The Manor Bistro site had nearly doubled the number of hits from the previous month. Internal analytics show overall usership of the site of both return and new users has been steadily increasing month to month. Mobile and tablet users now make up a far more significant portion of total users, thanks to integration of mobile and tablet-friendly structure. View the live site at themanorbistro.com

building web presence

Carstar Construction Ltd. is a local construction business specializing in project management and leaseholder improvements. Carstar contacted 6BY6 in 2014 looking to create a website to advertise their growing business, and showcase some of their projects.

6BY6 founder Allison sat down with Carstar to plan the new site. Carstar was looking for a simple, easy to manage site, with space to display their projects, and provide information about the business, as well as a section to post career opportunities, and a contact form. The new website would feature a clean navigation, a simple colour palette, and lightbox galleries for their projects.

encompass advertising

Encompass Home Automation is a local contracting business specializing in home automation, theatre and entertainment systems, and mobile integration of automation systems. Encompass contacted 6BY6 in 2014 looking for a brochure design that would detail and showcase their work to potential clients.

6BY6 founder Allison sat down with Encompass' owners to formulate a plan for the brochure. Encompass wanted something eye-catching, that fit their branding, and imparted important information about their services. 6BY6 used a vibrant colour palette and some of Encompass' own photos to create a fantastic brochure.
